“8 in blocks filled” uses 0.321 ft³ of grout per solidly filled 8 in block; one cubic yard (27 ft³) fills about 84 hollow 8 in blocks.
How to read this chart
The yield column is the finished volume one bag produces, straight from the manufacturer datasheet. The 8 in blocks filled column divides that yield by the grout needed to fill one solid 8 in block, so it answers “how many blocks will one bag do?” The bags per yd³ column is simply 27 ft³ divided by the bag yield, useful when a plan calls out cubic yards but you are buying bags.
Bag yields vary slightly by mix and how wet you run it. For filling cells you want a grout-consistency mix (an 8 to 11 in slump under ASTM C476 and TMS 602), which flows into the cavity and around reinforcing steel instead of bridging and leaving voids. Treat these figures as an ordering estimate and round up to the supplier minimum.
